Couldn't have said it better myself.

Delaying the Inevitable?

I don't think I could have put it in better words myself. I remember the first news I heard of the government "shutting down" due to a financial disaster. I personally saw this as a childish blunder as a result from very poor planning. Although this isn't the first time this has happened, I believe this marks the 4th time this year that this has been called to order. I will admit I don't fully understand how and where a $700 million bailout comes from. But as Shane said, their only stalling until things get worse. Unless of course, the big boys and girls in washington can come up with a solution that can actually last more than a 1/4 of a year.  I highly respect the view of this blog and do not see the opinion as harsh at all. Its constructive criticism, these mistakes are getting embarrassing. I have very little respect for the government as it is, I don't need to be hearing about them having to pay themselves to keep themselves alive. They need to get their act together, and figure something out that would last.

Occupy Once More

     The whole world watches

Although the mayor of New York had the movement known as "occupy wall street" evicted and shut down, the mark it left was enough to ignite a fire a crossed the nation.
What started as a non-violent movement in New York City turned into a nation wide soft mannered revolution slowly gaining more publicity?
It amazes me that in my time I would see a movement such as Occupy.
I was fortunate enough to work with Brighton Wallace of the Occupy Austin movement before he lost his job, I’ll be honest, the first time he started explaining things to me I was convinced he was out of his mind. But he spoke with such passion and drive, that I had no choice but to listen. Since that day I have been approached by young men with bandana’s covering their faces, passing out packets often filled with grammatical errors and loosely worded paragraphs.
There isn’t a day that goes by that you can take a walk in Austin and not see a chalk drawn quote or spray painted sign mentioning the Occupy Movement, to me it shows a strong sense of unity that most saw lost. I was one who always thought the Vietnam protests would be the last time a generation came together to speak as one voice. Word has even spread a crossed the ocean and has been sparked in European countries as well.
One of the biggest differences I noticed in this article was the anticipation leading up to November 17th, apparently today was the day a 3 part non-violent movement through NYC was to take place again. Starting with “shutting down wall street” and ending with a re organized meeting in the park, the occupy organizers seem to really have things under control.
With every day that goes by the movement grows, even if its little by little, everyday more and more people hear about it, and that is the constant drive keeping these people outside for these extended periods of time protesting for what they believe in.
This article has inspired me to look more into occupy, and see what things would be like had their goals ever been achieved. One thing for sure, “Occupy Around The World” shows no signs of slowing down.

Bush Is Back

We all know president bush for his great mishap of a term in office, it was almost embarrassing. In the article listed above, the topic of credibility comes into question once again for the bush administration. They have tried to claim partial credit for the capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden. Personally, I never even took bush serious as a president. He was like a little kid playing around in a big white house, when he wasn’t on vacation. So these actions of trying to scrape together at least a little bit of public approval doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. Even after all the bush administration jokes had finally stopped, they brought themselves right back into the public eye. I don’t believe for a second that they had anything to do with it because they had claimed the case went “cold”. If they had any shred of evidence that could lead to the capture then the case wouldn’t have ever been worthy of giving up. These are the reasons that I feel I will never be able to trust the government, there’s always something they didn’t say to the public or didn’t show to the public. In an idealistic democratic government, the people should know everything and be able to make a fully conscious vote on who the wish to elect their president. But that idea seemed to never exist for our great country. I know that a life in this country is a dream come true for many, and I know that there are plenty of other governments out there killing raping and extorting their people, but the men and women in D.C. dress up in suits and lie to our faces every day. No, I doubt the bush administration knew where or how they could get Osama, or else they would have saved their sorry butts and went and got him themselves. One day, maybe the united states government will feel that their citizens deserve to know all that they know, maybe we’ll actually know everything were up against as soon as they know. One day, maybe.

Start The Scramble

Desperately Seeking Someone

So, after the recent announcement from my former governor not to run for office, I decided to look into the editorials based on our upcoming election to see what the republicans have been up to. Now, unlike most democrats, I don’t really see the republicans as bad people. To me their just money hungry gangsters, only instead of being on the streets they do their business in our government wearing nicely pressed suits. In this editorial New York Times columnist Charles Blow discusses that scrambling going on for the republicans to put forth a worthy candidate for the 2012 election. After Palin and Christie announced they were not going to run, the background characters of the campaign had to move into the limelight. In the article, the matter of “rigged elections” comes up. The idea of republicans passing voting restrictions sickens me, because I wouldn’t have even known about this problem had I not read this article. Imagine how many low-income families without Internet or TV would never even hear of these restrictions, thus compromising the American vote. Additionally, I have a big enough problem with the electoral votes and all that mumbo jumbo. Since I was in elementary school I never understood the concept and now I hear of 63% of the votes going to states that’ve cut back their voting rights. In my vision of the American democracy, I see the election run like a high school prom king vote. There are 2 names on a ballot, you check next to the name that you want to win, and he with the most votes wins. Why is there a need for all this confusion in between? Sorry, I digress, but the main idea of these articles states the challenge the republicans will have even after they tried setting themselves up for a win. In the article, Blow talks about the republicans as if they were a scrambling bunch of key stone cops trying to find someone worth electing, one who could compete with the current public opinion of Obama. Maybe they will, maybe they won’t, they still have a year, but the choices look grim so far; Best of luck to them and their scramble.

Slippin' Up Again...

E-Mails Reveal Early White House Worries Over Solyndra

So, unfortunately for the men and women in D.C. a recent boo-boo has fallen right in plain view of the public eye. As listed in my profile, I have an acute interest in the shady, lying, dirty side of our government. Nothing says dirty laundry like receiving emails foretelling an unfortunate event, and doing nothing about it. That's right, according to congressional officials, the White House had received emails predicting the collapses of the now bankrupt solar-energy producer Solyndra. Even those who worked at Solyndra felt that over 500 million dollars granted to them was a bit much considering there financial situation at the time. This event has proved as pretty hefty factor towards the argument of government budgeting and loans. Had the government listened to the warning being given them, that 500 million dollars in tax payer money could have been easily been spent on 500 million other things. Let this be just one more example, there are some shady people out there, most end up in politics.
